Maharashtra Mandal Perth – Ganesh Festival 2025

I would like to begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation and paying my respects to their Elders - past, present, and emerging.

I would also like to congratulate MMP for organising such a wonderful celebration on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi for 21 years straight. Events such as these are meant to not only pay our respects to the almighty, but to also bring people together under one roof to share a meal, work together, get to know each other and make new friendships and renew old ones. It is a time to forget our sorrows and hardships and put aside our quarrels and differences. It is a time to thank Ganapati, the remover of obstacles and protector of all for the year gone by and seek his blessings for the well-being and prosperity of all.

I wish to congratulate the team from MMP for putting together today’s celebrations. We are grateful for all your hard work and dedicated service to the community.

The West Australian government’s role in supporting communities is truly remarkable. The untiring efforts of Dr Jags and Councillor Kamdar and their fellow colleagues to represent the interests and concerns of the Indian community in the political space and beyond is well known by all of us. Similarly the support given by the wider leadership and Australian people to welcome Indians to study, work, and settle in a new land to make it their home has formed a cornerstone of India-Australia relations.

The welfare and voluntary service of the countless community organisations such as the MMP, and the growth and success of every Indian here similarly, forms a critical part of the story of the growth and progress of India as a nation at home and abroad.
